Jakarta at Glance

Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia and the largest city. Getting around in Jakarta could be a disaster if you choose the wrong transportation.

Jakarta has a variety transportation system. It has train, bus, busway, three wheeler carriage (bajaj)but none of them seems to be safe and reliable.

Taxis could be an alternative if you don't want to be caught up in nowhere and most of the time car rental is a perfect solution especially when you have multiple destinations in Jakarta as no time will be wasted looking for a good Taxi and not all Taxis are safe to be used in Jakarta.

There are few place of interests and the most visitied are:

Ancol Dream Park
Located at the northern part of Jakarta Ancol is the only beachfront around Jakarta Metro area yet it's heavily polutted and its beach looks more like river. But still you can feel the sea breeze with its sea food restaurants and resorts

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah
Means Indonesia Miniature Park a great place if you want to know more about Indonesian culture.

The Cathedral Church
One of the biggest and oldest church in Indonesia built around 1891 under the Dutch government and start its service since April 21, 1901. Located just opposite Istiqlal the biggest mosque in Indonesia.

National Monument (Monas)
This is one of the most famous landmark in Jakarta and its being used as Jakarta's city symbol. Located opposite of Presidential Palace.
You can have an eagle view from the top of it and at the basement level you can found the original proclamation text.

The Old City
Visit the old city to get the feeling of the old Jakarta town where you can find old buildings built by the Dutch and the British. Some are well maintained and restored recently but unfortunately many of them are abandoned and nearly collapsed.
Here you can also find the old city hall currently known as Fatahillah Museum and the oldest train station with its art deco style just meters away.
